Recently Hirsch’s Hyde Park hosted their monthly business network meeting with Guest Speaker Edith Chetty from Energ-e Activated talking to guests  on the art of professional networking. She started the session by using an ice-breaker, making the attendees go and sit next to someone that they did not talk to before the session started thus putting everyone out of their comfort zone, which is the only place one grows.

Commented Hirsch’s Marjone Barnard “The crowd was hanging on her lips while she was talking about the purpose of networking and your personal brand which includes the science of sparkling conversation. Edith shared trips and tricks that seem straight forward but we forget sometimes. She ended the session with a quote from Maya Angelou: ““I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” “

The networkers were asked to not do their own 60-second elevator pitches but rather introduce their neighbors to the other attendees. “When we get to know someone else, we only focus on the positive and that is what was conveyed in these pitches. Kamil Chotoo, Hirsch’s Trainee Manager then spoke about the Hirsch’s birthday specials which kicked off today. This was followed by a lucky draw, networking, sharing of business cards and enjoying refreshments.” Said Marjone.
