In collaboration with our amazing partners, Whirlpool ambassadors will be serving these warm, spiced treats in-store, while Philips joins the experience with freshly brewed coffee to enjoy as you shop and explore.

A recipe inspired by togetherness
Our Hot Cross Cookies are a fun twist on the traditional Easter favourite, soft, flavourful, and filled with seasonal spice.
Come and try these cookies made in the Whirlpool supreme chef served best with a cappuccino made in the Philips Espresso machine. It definitely brings this experience to life, you can enjoy the same magic at home.

Hirsch’s Hot Cross Cookies Recipe
Makes: ±12 cookies
Prep: 15 minutes | Bake: 10–12 minutes
Oven: 180°C
Ingredients
Cookie Dough
- 1 cup cake flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp mixed spice (optional)
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup white sugar
- 100g butter, softened
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp vanilla essence
- ½ cup raisins or sultanas
- Zest of 1 orange (optional)
Cross
- 3 tbsp flour
- 2–3 tbsp water
Glaze
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp water
Method
- Preheat your oven to 180°C and line a baking tray.
- Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla, mix well.
- Fold in flour, baking powder, cinnamon and mixed spice.
- Stir in raisins and orange zest.
- Scoop dough into balls, place on tray and gently flatten.
Make the crosses:
7. Mix flour and water into a thick paste.
8. Pipe a cross over each cookie.
Bake & finish:
9. Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden.
10. Brush with warm sugar glaze for a beautiful shine.
Tips for Perfect Cookies
- Soak raisins in warm water for extra softness
- Add a pinch of salt to enhance flavour
- Dust lightly with icing sugar for a bakery-style finish
