Antograce Foods Sweet Success

Some success stories are measured in numbers. Others are measured in courage, determination and the people who believe in you when you need it most.

For Antoinette Mnisi, Director of Antograce Foods, every cake, every scone and every platter tells a story of resilience. As the founder of this proudly South African, Black woman-owned business, Antoinette has turned her passion for baking into a brand that brings joy to every celebration.

A Dream Given the Chance to Rise

In 2020, Antoinette’s journey took an exciting turn when Margaret Hirsch gave her the opportunity to operate her restaurant and bakery at Hirsch’s. It was a chance to showcase her talent and build a business she had always dreamed of.

Then the unexpected happened.

When the Covid-19 pandemic forced many businesses to close their doors, Antoinette had to return home. Like so many entrepreneurs, she faced uncertainty and difficult decisions—but she never gave up on her dream.

The Power of Believing in Someone

Even during those challenging times, the encouragement she received continued to inspire her.

Margaret Hirsch’s belief in Antoinette’s potential gave her the confidence to keep moving forward. At the same time, Hirsch’s PRO Michelle Paine continued supporting Antograce Foods through cooking demonstrations and activations at the Hirsch’s Centurion branch, helping keep the brand visible and growing.

The entire Hirsch’s Centurion team also played an important role, welcoming Antograce Foods into the Hirsch’s family with warmth, encouragement and ongoing support.

Reflecting on her journey, Antoinette says:

“I had someone I looked up to in Margaret Hirsch. This inspiring woman made me realise that I can do it, and I will do it. I cannot thank Margaret, Michelle and the Hirsch’s Centurion team enough for believing in me, supporting me and having faith in my business.”

Recognition Through Resilience

Antoinette’s determination did not go unnoticed.

In 2021, Sunlight recognised her as one of only five women in South Africa whose businesses continued to grow despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic—a remarkable achievement that celebrated both her resilience and entrepreneurial spirit.

Growing Stronger Than Ever

Today, Antograce Foods is proudly back in Gauteng and once again operating at Hirsch’s, delighting customers with handcrafted baked goods and catering that add something special to every occasion.
