There was great excitement recently when Hirsch’s Strubens Valley and Oakfield Wedding expo partnered for a wedding expo. Eight engaged couples competed in a couples cook-off over a two day period. This wedding expo is the biggest of its kind in South Africa and is held biannually with over 180 exhibitors, a wedding dress fashion show and over 6105 guests.
Commented on Hirsch’s Marjone Barnard “The couples were given a mystery bag and had to create a main dish in 30 minutes and a dessert in 20 minutes. Our judges had to judge the dishes based on creativity, presentation, taste, cleanliness of the work station and the use of ingredients. Our winning couple for Saturday was Philip Voigt and Luanelle van Niekerk. On Sunday Darren Young and Sunelia Snyders were the lucky winners. The winners walked away with an Empire Red KitchenAid mixer. The runners-up received a KitchenAid stove top kettle. Third and fourth place also received stovetop kettles and a Carrol Boyes Oil&Vinegar pourer respectively.”
