Recently Hirsch’s Homestores held a live cooking demonstration with the pasta king himself Paolo Pepi Mastropaolo from Pestopepi. Pepi, with his many years of experience in the Durban restaurant community, wowed the audience with his Pumpkin gnocchi and ravioli recipe made fresh from scratch.
Pepi also whipped up a divine pumpkin sauce and spoke about the different sauces to accommodate the pastas and how keeping the food simple is the best way to enjoy these Italian classics. “Simple fresh flavours are the way to go with fresh homemade pasta you do not want to overcomplicate it with too much salt and heavy flavours as you lose the taste completely,” said Pepi.
