How To Use An Air Fryer

We have put together some tips on How to use an Air Fryer. An air fryer is the new must have kitchen gadget. It might be small in size but when it comes to functionality it has it all. Fry, bake, grill and roast the options are endless. Because of its size it is also convenient for any area including university rooms, it is even great to take on holiday.

How To Choose The Perfect Air Fryer

The first thing you need to find out is what size air fryer you need to get. If you are a single person then a smaller air fryer with an 4.1l capacity will be perfect for those quick small meals. However if you are a family of 6 then the best air fryer to get will be an extra large air fryer. Because it will have a capacity of 7,3L and greater. Next, take into consideration what functions and attachments you would like the air fryer to have. Do you want it to do the basic frying or would you like to use it as a multi cooker. If so, then you need to look for one with the choice of added features and attachments such as the Kenwood air fryer.

How An Air Fryer Works

An air fryer uses rapid hot air to circulate and cook the food in its basket. This technology limits the use of oil to achieve the crispy exterior on foods we love. Therefore instead of using hot oil to deep fry your food it has been fried using hot air. The air fryers come loaded with an array of functions for different meal types to suit many different needs. It is also much safer for kids to use as once the air fryer is opened the cooking process is automatically stopped, minimizing the chance of burning. They are also fitted with a timer once the timer is set and the food is done cooking it will turn off to ensure the food does not burn.

How To Use An Air Fryer

  • Functions:

Firstly decide on the meal that you are wanting to create. Air fryers all come with different functions for different meals. If you are going to fry then select the fry function or crisping function. If you are going to bake choose the baking function. if you are going to grill or roast select the grill or roast function. You will find these easily in the manual or they are often shown on the machine by pictures. For example the Philips air fryer uses a picture of fries to show the frying function and a pie for the baking function and so on. Also make note that it takes a lot quicker to cook so cut your cooking time down.

  • Positioning The Food

Once you have chosen your function it is time to cook. Make sure that you do not over crowd the basket otherwise it prevents the hot air from circulating correctly. This can result in an uneven fry or bake. Also make sure the attachments are secure to avoid anything coming loose during the cooking process.

  • Keep Things Moving

When frying in the air Fryer it is important to occasionally take the basket out and give it a shake. This will ensure that the food doesn’t stick and an even cook is achieved.

  • Limit Moisture

When using foods with high amounts of moisture such as marinades or fatty meat. It is important to empty the drip tray occasionally to limit the amount of splattering and smoke.

  • Cooking Sprays

Light Oil cooking sprays are great to use as they offer a non stick coating with out using unhealthy frying oils.

  • Be Creative

An Airfryer is one of those kitchen machines where you can let your creativity soar. There are endless recipes to try and create yourself. Don’t be scared to try new things. For example why not use it to make your favourite pizza or bake the next Birthday cake, or cheese cake?
