Crispy Air Fryer Tofu Nuggets

We will be sharing, tips, tricks, recipes and hacks to make the most out of your air fryer, this week we are spotlighting a healthy Vegan recipe that requires little effort and packs a flavourful punch, done in your trusted airfryer in under 30 minutes.

Whether you’re a seasoned vegan or simply looking to explore new plant-based options, these crispy airfryer Tofu nuggets are perfect! A savoury, crispy air fried delight to satisfy all your cravings!

Ingredients:

  • 1 block (14 ounces or 400g) firm tofu
  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch or arrowroot powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray or oil for spraying

Instructions:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  • Drain the tofu and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Place a heavy object, such as a cutting board or a plate, on top of the wrapped tofu to press out the excess liquid. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Once the tofu is pressed, cut it into bite-sized nugget shapes.
  • In a shallow dish, combine the nutritional yeast, cornstarch (or arrowroot powder), garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or lightly brush it with oil to prevent sticking.
  • Dip each tofu nugget into the seasoning mixture, pressing gently to adhere the coating. Make sure all sides are coated evenly.
  • Place the coated tofu nuggets in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  • Spray the tofu nuggets with cooking spray or lightly brush them with oil to help them crisp up.
  • Cook the tofu nuggets in the air fryer for 15-20 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning.
  • Check the tofu nuggets for crispiness. They should be golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  • Once cooked, remove the tofu nuggets from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serve the crispy air fryer tofu nuggets with your favorite dipping sauce, such as vegan ranch, barbecue sauce, or sweet chili sauce.
